1962 European Cup final: Benfica 5-Real Madrid 3

The 1962 European Cup Final was a football match held at the Olympisch Stadion, Amsterdam, on 2 May 1962, that saw S.L. Benfica play against Real Madrid. Benfica defeated their opponents 5–3, to win the European Cup for the second successive season. This was the first final played by youngster Eusébio.

1961 European Cup final

The 1961 European Cup Final was held at the Wankdorf Stadium, Bern, on 31 May 1961, and saw Benfica play against Barcelona. This was the first final not to include Real Madrid, who had won the previous five finals. Benfica lifted the trophy for the first time, beating Barcelona 3–2.

1960 European Cup final

The 1960 European Cup Final was the fifth final in the history of the European Cup, and was contested between Real Madrid of Spain and Eintracht Frankfurt of Germany. It is widely regarded as one of the greatest football matches ever played. Madrid won 7–3 in front of a crowd of 135,000 people at Glasgow's Hampden Park. Frankfurt reached the final through an impressive 12–4 aggregate victory over Scottish champions Rangers, whereas Madrid overcame their bitter rivals FC Barcelona 6–2 over two legs.
The match was initially in doubt as the German FA had banned their clubs from taking part in matches with any team containing Ferenc Puskás after the Hungarian had alleged the West German team had used drugs in 1954. Puskás had to make a formal written apology before the match could take place.
Puskás and Di Stefano are two of only three players to have scored a hat-trick in a European Cup or Champions League final, with the other being Pierino Prati for A.C. Milan in their 4–1 victory over AFC Ajax in the 1969 European Cup Final. Puskás repeated the feat in the 1962 European Cup Final.

1959 European Cup final

The 1959 European Cup Final was the fourth final in the pan-European football competition, the European Cup, now known as the UEFA Champions League. It was contested by Real Madrid of Spain and Stade de Reims-Champagne from France. It was played at the Neckarstadion in Stuttgart on 3 June 1959 in front of 80,000 people. The match finished 2–0 to Real Madrid, winning their fourth European Cup in a row and beating Reims in final for the second time in four years, following the 1956 final. Madrid dominated the match with goals by Enrique Mateos and Alfredo Di Stefano.

1958 European Cup final

The 1958 European Cup Final was a football match which took place at Heysel Stadium in Brussels, Belgium, on 28 May 1958. It was contested by Real Madrid of Spain and Milan of Italy. Real Madrid won 3-2 after extra-time to claim their third European Cup in a row.

1957 European Cup final

The 1957 European Cup Final was a football match which took place at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid, Spain on 30 May 1957. It was contested between Real Madrid of Spain and Fiorentina of Italy. Real Madrid won 2–0 after goals from Di Stéfano and Gento in the second half.

1956 European Cup Final

The 1956 European Cup Final was the first ever final in the pan-European football competition, the European Cup, now known as the UEFA Champions League. It was contested by Real Madrid of Spain and Stade de Reims-Champagne from France. It was played at the Parc des Princes in Paris on 13 June 1956 in front of 38,000 people. Real Madrid reached the final by beating the now seven times champions Milan 5–4 on aggregate, whereas Reims beat Scottish club Hibernian 3–0 on aggregate. The match finished 4–3 to Real Madrid, who went on to record an unrivalled five consecutive European Cup titles. The match started brightly for Reims, Leblond and Templin scored to make it 2–0 inside ten minutes, but by half time Madrid had levelled the scores, through goals from Di Stefano and Rial. Reims took the lead again on 62 minutes through Hidalgo, but Marquitos and Rial scored in the 67th and 79th minutes respectively to win the cup for Madrid.
